Mariachi Las Adelitas UK

Formed in London in 2013, Mariachi Las Adelitas UK are the first all-female mariachi band in Europe: eight musicians with three lead vocalists, originally from Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Italy and the UK. Salma Hayek is a fan, and booked them for her private birthday celebration in London. They have played Glastonbury's Leftfield Stage and WOMAD's BBC Charlie Gillett Stage, supported Lila Downs at the Barbican, and performed at the British Museum, the V&A, Camden Roundhouse and the O2 Forum. Cerys Matthews premiered their huapango arrangement of "Back to Black" on BBC radio, and they have appeared live on Radio 4's Loose Ends. Internationally they have played the Women's Mariachi Festival in Los Angeles — appearing on Univision and Telemundo — and the Festival Internacional del Mariachi y la Charrería in Guadalajara. Repertoire runs from traditional rancheras and boleros through to Latin-pop crossovers, equally at home serenading a table or filling a marquee.
