Down for the Count

Founded in 2005 by pianist and musical director Mike Paul-Smith, Down for the Count is a collective of around thirty professional musicians with more than a thousand events played across the UK and internationally. Michael Bublé's verdict — "This is awesome!!!!" — sits alongside DownBeat Magazine's: "a sonic ride back to the sounds of Capitol Studios in the 1950s." Formats run from duos and trios to the 19-piece Big Band and a Swing Orchestra of 28 to 45 players. Their roaming line-ups — The Vintage Strollers, Alexander's Ragtime Band and Get Brassy — perform fully unplugged, no cables or PA, built for drinks receptions and heritage venues with amplification limits. They have sold out Ronnie Scott's multiple times and played Cadogan Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, The Savoy, Claridge's, Royal Ascot, the Natural History Museum, the Eiffel Tower and La Mamounia in Marrakech, with corporate clients including Ferrari, Virgin, BMW, Sony and Lindt.
